Challenge

"I can’t find anything, I spend hours looking before giving up in frustration." - These were the words of an Executive Vice President on trying to find files and relevant information on their association’s file system.

This was a common pain point across the association. Many alternative solutions were offered and rogue IT solutions tried. And to make things worse, the association was deeply entrenched in a single workflow - single documents sent as email attachments.

That's when we got the call.

Strategy

Our primary strategy for this project had two parts - 1.) rip off the band-aid, and 2.) take baby steps.

  • Selected Microsoft 365 Cloud (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, CoPilot) as the solution
  • Evaluated, hired, and managed a specialized consulting firm for the migration from file system to the cloud
  • Leveraged several advanced change management techniques to ensure a smooth transition and adoption

Results

Over 115 users were successfully trained and migrated from a single-file, Windows File share system to a fully-collaborative and cloud based environment.

Challenge

"Our technology needs to be innovative and cutting-edge." - this was the command given by a new CEO of a national trade association.

Results were expected, and fast, but no further instructions or details were provided. Just the phrase repeated from the top down - “We need cutting-edge technology.”

But what did “cutting-edge” mean? And which technology, specifically? All of it? Some of it?

That's when we got the call.

Strategy

Our primary strategy from the start was to gain clarity before taking any rash, or reactive, actions. Our strategy after that was to figure out where the association needed to go and how to get there.

  • Defined what “innovative” and “cutting-edge” meant for this association
  • Assessed and benchmarked the association’s included technology in relation to the definition of innovative
  • Created a road map for getting from where the association was to where they needed to be by identified and managing 12 projects over two years

Results

The association moved from a benchmark assessment score of 58 (Effective) to 82 (Innovative), putting their technology in the top 9% of associations.

Challenge

"Because we’ve done it this way for 35 years." - these were the words of the race director for a charity race held each year in partnership with a large association.

The race attracted big names, big sponsors, and raised big money for the supported charity. The problem? The race website was built in 1998, and the team registration process was done completely on paper and by mail. Even the donations to the charity were physical checks, delivered in a giant bag at the end of the race.

That's when we got the call.

Strategy and Services

The primary strategy we used here was one of our favorites - just build it (or at least, appear to just build it).

The race director was convinced it would take several months, maybe even a year or more, and barrels full of cash to rebuild the website and take the registration process on line. Here's what we did:

  • Quickly rebuilt the website with a modern and elegant look and feel
  • Quickly built a proof-of-concept online race registration website
  • Honored the race director and his team by ensuring them the process would not replace them, only make the process easier for everyone involved

Results

With the website rebuilt, the registration proof-of-concept complete, and the race director honored, it was a win-win for both sides.

The new website and registration process went live within two months, and the race was a huge success - for registrants, sponsors, the supported charity, the director, and the association.
